Dear Students and Parents, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to Hernandez Elementary School, the only PK-5 school in our district and home of the Hernandez Heroes! We are so excited to have you at our school. I am a graduate with Bachelor and Master's degrees in education from Southwest Texas State University now Texas State University. I have been a part of the San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District for 31 years and have had the pleasure of being an elementary school teacher, a coordinator for the district bilingual/ESL program and a campus administrator. It is my sincere desire to ensure an excellent education for all of our Hernandez students. The goal of our dedicated Hernandez team is to provide our students with the opportunities to learn, explore and achieve. I believe that every decision made must be based on what is best for all children. Inclusive in this belief, is that we must not forget to look at every child; each one unique and special. Our logo is made up of seven stars in an arc. Each star represents one of the grade levels at our school. The smallest star showing only a speck of purple represents PK. As the stars get bigger, they begin to fill up with more purple color. The biggest star represents fifth grade. Why is that star full? It is full because we, the Hernandez Elementary School staff have found and nurtured the talents and the potential in each and every child. As they leave our school, they will leave with a good understanding of what makes an everyday hero at home, at school and in the community. I ask you to join us as we discover the inner hero in every child. Sincerely, Rosemary Reyes Garza Principal
