U.S.Congressman Lloyd Doggett has nominated two San Marcos High School students --Henry Finch and Aidan Dietz-- to prestigious appointments at the U.S. Naval Academy and West Point, respectively.
San Marcos High School Senior Henry Finch has been nominated by Congressman Lloyd Doggett and accepted admission to attend the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis. Henry is active in the community, as well as at SMHS where he is number one in his class, working with the San Marcos Housing Authority to organize a children’s clothing drive that brought in thousands of pounds of clothes as an Eagle Scout project. Henry, who is a pianist and runs Varsity Cross Country, received a letter of assurance from the Naval Academy and will be attending in the fall. Seems it runs in the family for San Marcos High School Senior Aidan Dietz, who has been nominated by Congressman Lloyd Doggett to attend the United States Military Academy at West Point. Aidan’s father Michael is a Lt. Colonel with the Texas Army National Guard, who has served in both Afghanistan and Iraq. Aidan, a varsity swimmer for SMHS, will soon complete his Eagle Scout project at the Hays-Caldwell Women’s Shelter. Aidan’s mother, Lucy “Elly” Del Prado Dietz, is an attorney with Duvall Gruning & Dietz, PPLC in San Marcos, and sister Sharon is a junior at the University of Texas and a Big 12 Rowing Champion.
