Three San Marcos CISD elementary campuses have been selected for recognition by the Division of No Child Left Behind Program coordination at the Texas Education Agency for distinguished academic performance: Bowie, Crockett, and De Zavala Elementary Schools. All three are Title I, Part A school wide campuses.
Principals Karen McGowan (Bowie), Rick LaBuhn (Crockett), and Dolores Cruz (De Zavala) will be contacted by the Region 13 Educational Service Center this spring for participation in the recognition of the schools’ accomplishments.
TEA’s Associate Commissioner of Standards and Programs Anita Givens says, “To achieve and maintain such high standards is an accomplishment that serves as a model for other schools in the state to emulate.”
According to http://www2.edu.gov, more than 50,000 public schools nationwide use Title I funds “to provide additional academic support and learning opportunities to help low-achieving children master challenging curricula and meet state standards in core academic subjects.”
