Text Box: PEP: Pregnancy Education and Parenting

History of the Program: The Pregnancy Education and Parenting Program originally began as the School Age Parenting Program (SAPP) pilot program in 1988-1989 under the direction of the 71st Legislature. The Texas Education Association (TEA) renamed the program “PEP” in 1990-1991. Currently, there are 277 PEP programs statewide. The SMCISD PEP program was established in 1990, and is a special program of the San Marcos CISD.
