Where I grew up: I was born in Wichita Falls, Texas. I lived there until I was 18 when I left to go to college at Texas State University.
Education: I graduated from Wichita Falls High School in 2012. I attended Texas State University where I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education.
Teaching Experience: This is my seventh year of teaching with SMCISD. Before graduating from college, I worked at two daycares, three summer camps, and led the Children’s Program at a church here in San Marcos. Through Texas State, I was a Bobcat Buddy at an elementary school in New Braunfels, I did the Hernandez HEROES program at Hernandez Elementary School, and student taught at Travis Elementary School. I have taught first, second, and fourth grade.
Teaching Philosophy: I believe that students learn better in an environment where they feel safe to make mistakes and have the opportunity to grow from them. I believe in emphasizing hands-on experiences to get the students interested and motivated in learning. I want to help students become critical thinkers who are given a variety of opportunities to explore different ways of thinking.
