Ms. Ashley Arledge

Dear Parents,

My name is Ashley Arledge, and I will be your child’s Kindergarten teacher this year. You and I will be spending more time with your child in the upcoming school year than any other adults. Because of this, I’d like to take this opportunity to tell you a few things about myself-both personally and professionally.

I am life-long Texan and grew up in the small, flat land, dusty, treeless farming community of Seymour, Texas. In a small community you can’t get away with much as everyone knows you and news travels fast. It teaches a sense of responsibility and instills a good helping of common sense. After graduating I spent my first year at Texas Tech University in Lubbock. In the spring of my freshman year, my mom moved to Austin and I came to spend Easter with her. The bluebonnets were in bloom and everything alive with color. I fell in love with the rivers and trees and by the next fall I was enrolled at Texas State and San Marcos has been my home ever since.

I have an 15 year old son Jack who started Kinder at Travis and will be going to Highschool this year. I have been teaching at Travis for 9 years and this will be my 6th year teaching Kinder. I taught at the First Methodist Church Pre K for 5 years before working at Travis. I have a great interest in nature and learning about plants, animals and our planet.

This year is going to be an exciting one. I love working with the Kinder students. They are so inquisitive and eager to learn. It is so exciting when they connect the dots that 1 and 1 make 2 and when they put a word together using the letter sounds. We will make learning fun and be putting a lot effort of into preparing your child for first grade. Our learning programs will include some homework, so as a parent you will know that we are working on.

Parents are the most important people in a child’s life, and we need to work together for the benefit of your child. I need you to support my academic, homework and discipline efforts here at school. In return, I will keep you informed about all aspects of your child’s experiences at school. With school and home working together, I know that each and every student can have his or her most successful school year yet.  I’m looking forward to meeting you personally at Back- to- school night.

Sincerely,

Ashley  Arledge
