I am SO excited to be your seventh grade teacher! It’s going to be a fun year full of learning and new adventures, and I can’t wait to see what the year has in store for us! I want to know ALL about you, but first, here’s a few things about me.
I was born in Cambodia, a country located in Southeast Asia, during a civil war in my country and didn’t come to the United States until I was 5 years old. I lived in Norfolk, Virginia for a year before moving to Richmond, Virginia. I was an English Language Learner (ELL) and took English as a Second Language (ESL) until the sixth grade. I am the oldest of three kids and the first in my family to attend college. I graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Psychology.
After getting married, I moved to San Antonio, TX and got my teaching certification. I taught sixth grade math, science, and social studies for 4 years and then moved down to teach fifth grade (self contained) for 5 years. This will be my 10th year of teaching and my first year teaching seventh grade Math and Pre-AP Science!
I have two girls, Kaitie who’s 9 and Alyssa who’s 7. We also adopted a beagle, named Scout, who absolutely loves tummy rubs. We love to travel and have great adventures. This summer, we visited Washington D.C. to see all the national monuments and awesome exhibits at the museums, Jamestown in Virginia to explore the first English settlement, and went kayaking on the Comal River. I can’t wait to start a new adventure this school year and make it the best year yet!
