Michael Harris

Hello! I teach students Advanced Quantitative Reasoning (AQR) and Debate I, II, III, and IV at San Marcos High School. I am also the debate coach.

For as long as I can remember I have enjoyed math, problem-solving, and helping others grow. In high school I enjoyed tutoring on the side and helping other students succeed in their classes. In college, I studied marketing and consulting at the McCombs School of Business at UT Austin, focusing on how I could use a strategic approach and mathematical analysis to help small companies. Realizing my passion for teaching, I decided to change career directions and get a teaching certificate. I am so grateful to be able to work each day at a job I love!

I am also passionate about bringing debate to students from all backgrounds so that every student can feel empowered and know that their voice matters. For the past 10 years I have been involved with a non-profit organization bringing debate to high school students who otherwise would not have the resources to compete at the national level. It was through this organization that I solidified my decision to be active in education and was able to hone some of the skills I would later use as teacher.

Please feel free to reach out to me if you would like to talk about any of these areas as I love sharing my passion with others!
