Voluntary July Workouts

Dear San Marcos CISD Families,

San Marcos CISD Athletics is re-opening our summer strength and conditioning workouts beginning Monday, July 13th on a voluntary basis.  I want to commend our professional staff for executing the game plan with exceptional attention to detail during the June workouts. 

We are five weeks away from the official start date of the UIL Athletic calendar, and it is important that we have our athletes’ bodies prepared and safely trained to begin competition in District 26-6A.  We have a three week championship plan in place and encourage all athletes to participate.

July workouts:

Week 1:                July 13, 14, 15, 16            

Week 2:                July 22, 23, 24, 25                            

Week 3:                July 27, 28, 29, 30

August 3rd:          Football and Volleyball begin seasons

  1. All athletes and coaches will wear masks. You may bring your own, but masks will be provided for all.
  2. Incoming 9th graders will be included. Must have had a physical last school year on file, or bring an updated physical.

Health and safety protocols for summer strength and conditioning workouts

Following the provided UIL guidelines and in conjunction with local and state requirements, SMCISD Athletics will be re-opening summer workout opportunities for our incoming 9th – 12th grade athletes at the San Marcos HS Student Activity Center. Individual sport coaches will be reaching out to their athletes to share needed information regarding sport specific information, screening process, and parking/drop-off procedures.

Athletes and coaches will be screened each day as they enter the designated workout area. Screening will include a temperature check. Athletes and coaches will also be required to utilize a hand sanitizing station prior to beginning any workout. Athletes will be required to bring their own individual water in their own container each day.

Designated parking spots and entry points to the SAC have been established to limit access to the workout areas and ensure limited group sizes (map of parking is attached).  Social distancing of six feet between all participants will be used while waiting in lines before, during and after exercising.  During exercises, that distance will be increased to ten feet.
