Weiss High School held off a late rally to beat San Marcos 25-15 on Friday.
The Wolves struck first with a 5-yard run from Jordan Anderson, then added a 12-yard touchdown pass from Jaxon Schad to Tre Moore, taking a 13-0 lead in the first quarter. Sabian Munoz added a 28-yard field goal in the second, before San Marcos was finally able to get on the board with a 16-yard touchdown pass from Buck Steyn to Jah’Marien Nichols, followed by a two-point conversion to make it 16-8 at halftime.
In the fourth, Anderson caught a 20-yard touchdown from Schad, keeping Weiss ahead 22-8. San Marcos tried to make a comeback, narrowing the gap with a 34-yard Steyn-to-Hank Harris touchdown, but Munoz sealed the win with a 27-yard field goal for the final 25-15 score.
