Nu Chapter, Delta Kappa Gamma Society International Woman's Society Founded May 11, 1929.
Our Nu Chapter of DKG members are women who are or have been employed as a professional educator or in education.
We help stimulate personal and professional growth among our members and provide scholarships to young women pursuing educational degrees twice a year. Nu Chapter promotes projects such as gathering schools supplies for local schools, and providing needed materials for flood and hurricane victims during the Texas disaster. We take part in mentoring, service and helping our community while promoting education to others. We also participate in the Wimberley Trail of Lights at the Emily Ann Theater. Special thanks to our grant writer, Loretta Eiben, Miller teacher, this is our third year to receive the Astef (Alpha State Texas Educational Foundation). The purpose was to write the grant in hopes of providing books for students in the elementary schools. We were honored to received a check for $2,500 from the Astef grant this year. Mendez Elementary was our selected school and we were proud to present a check to the faculty and staff of Mendez Elementary Campus this month to use for educational needs for the students. Women educators interested in joining DKG Nu Chapter, please contact membership chairman, Connie Martin-Thompson at Goodnight Middle School 512-393-6570.
