SMCISD CDC Awarded 2 Grants from Rural Capital Area Workforce Board

SMCISD Child Development Center is honored to announce it has been awarded two quality initiative grants from the Rural Capital Area Workforce Board.

Outdoor Project Grant ($6000) will support the district in establishing two playgrounds for the SMCISD Child Development Center. The playgrounds will work to bring fun, learning and nature to the outdoor space of the renovated CDC set for opening August 2019.

Infant/Toddler Grant ($12,300) supports SMCISD's commitment to early childhood education with developing expanded infant and toddler slots to serve the SMCISD community through the renovating of facilities which will increase available slots for the SMCISD early childhood services. The grant will provide for the furniture in a new classroom which includes: rug, book shelves, baby beds, changing tables, gliders and a new washer and dryer. The SMCISD CDC newly renovated CDC is projected to open August 2019.

SMCISD Child Development Center will be celebrating 30 years of service to the SMCISD Community in the Fall 2019 with the opening of the newly renovated CDC facilities. The partnership with Rural Capital has extended many of those years. In the last 17 years, SMCISD has received from Rural Capital Workforce Board grants for such things as: baby beds, infant classroom equipment, STEM equipment, Child Development Associate Degrees (CDA) training's, Frog Street Curriculum, Teaching Strategies Gold (through TWC/AEYC), high quality professional development for the CDC teachers, Taking Charge of Change- Director training program, Outdoor Education and now the Outdoor Project Grant and Infant/Toddler Grant.
