Hello Hernandez Elementary Families!

My name is Linda Hernandez-Torres. I love what I do! I am beginning my 7th year as the Assistant Principal at Hernandez Elementary and 15th year in SMCISD. I was born, raised, and still reside in San Marcos. I am a proud product of SMCISD. I’ve earned my Bachelor’s Degree from Southwest Texas and a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Texas State University (2005). Then, I obtained my Principal Certification through Texas State University in 2014. At De Zavala, I taught 3rd grade for 2 years. Then, I moved to Hernandez Elementary and taught 3rd and 4th grade. I have served as a K-5 intervention teacher as well. Hernandez Elementary is a wonderful place!

I believe wholeheartedly in teaching the whole child. Children are all unique individuals who deserve an opportunity to learn and grow at their own pace. All children are entitled to come to a welcoming, safe, and respectful environment. Also, good communication between all the stakeholders is critical for the success of each child. It is a team effort to help all children reach their full potential. I think that we have the best teachers, staff, students, and parents at Hernandez Elementary!

What do I enjoy doing when I am not at my second home? I love spending quality time with my daughter and husband. My family is my everything.
