Cherise Hanf began her career teaching in the Preschool Program for Children with Disabilities (PPCD) in LaPorte ISD, LaPorte, Texas. She later joined San Marcos CISD, where she served as a special education co-teacher for K–5 students at Hernandez Elementary for nine years. During her time there, Ms. Hanf held several leadership roles, including special education team lead, member of both the campus and district improvement teams, and elementary summer school principal.
Ms. Hanf played an integral role in launching innovative initiatives at Hernandez Elementary, such as the "Enrichment for All" clubs and the intervention co-teach/model teaching initiative. Most recently, she has served as an instructional coach, continuing to support staff and student success. As a respected and familiar member of the Hernandez community, Ms. Hanf brings a deep understanding of the school’s culture, students, and staff.
A native of Friendswood, Texas, Ms. Hanf earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Houston–Clear Lake and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Texas State University. As a school leader, she is excited to contribute her knowledge and experience to the leadership team and help further the school’s mission to foster a positive, inclusive, and high-achieving learning environment for all students. Her educational philosophy centers on leading a school where every student is challenged, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential.
Ms. Hanf resides in San Marcos with her husband, Matt, and their two children, Sophie and Maddison.
