Welcome to Bowie Elementary! My name is Carolyn Lay and I am your school counselor. This year marks my second in this position, and my twelfth in education. I gradated with my master's in school counseling from Lamar University and my bachelor's from UTSA. Prior to becoming a school counselor, I taught 5th-8th grades in all subject areas, including reading intervention, dyslexia, and robotics. I am married with three children, ages 16, 8, and 7. Ruth is 16 and a junior in highschool in Florida, Max is 8 and in 2nd grade, and Oliva is 7 and in 1st grade.

Most of my free time is spent with my family. We love to do anything outdoors and love learning about all kinds of animals. I love being a counselor and look forward to coming to work every single day. I feel extremely honored that so many parents entrust us to care for their children and look forward to getting to know you more as we move through the year!
