Track & Field: Pole Vault MS and HS

I am a Texas State Graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Exercise and Sports Science and a minor in Math. Go Bobcats! While at Texas State, I competed in pole vault on the Texas State Track and Field team. The coach I had while training there made such a positive impact on my life, which led to my passion of becoming a coach as well. I am excited about working with each and everyone of you and cannot wait to help everyone succeed. I enjoy spending time with my family, hiking, traveling both throughout the U.S. and abroad, pole vaulting, swimming, volleyball, playing the piano, and anything else outdoors! I have a passion for teaching you all great lifelong skills so that you will be successful in setting, reaching, and maintaining your goals!

A little about me, I grew up in the small town of Pleasanton, Texas. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology at Angelo State University and my Masters in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at the University of Texas, Arlington.

This is my seventh year teaching at Goodnight. I taught reading intervention for five years and am now teaching physical education/athletics and I have loved every minute of it. My philosophy when coaching is to teach my athletes the value of competition by demonstrating and developing positive character traits and enforcing a strong work ethic. Winning is won by the work you put in, not by the points on the score board.

Experience:
This is my first year as an Educator/Coach. I bring a lot of energy and level headedness to the table. So far this year has been exhilarating and look forward to finishing the year out to start anew.

About Me:
I am a Houston (Richmond) native. I played football, wrestled, and threw shot/discus at Richmond Foster. I knew I wanted to work in the realm of education since about 8th grade or so. I saw the impact sports played on not only my life, but also on my teammates lives. Some of whom worked their way out of calamity to play professional/semi-pro ball.

Moreover, by trade most of my work experience hovers around construction based work. I worked mainly as a Sub-Contractor in high school up until I transferred to Texas State, with a pinch of land surveying before I was hired on.

Education:
I started my college career at Wharton County Junior College, where I completed my basics developed a great passion for learning. After I completed my basics, I transferred to Texas State University to finish out my degree. There I went all in and absorbed as much knowledge as I could, taking the "harder" teachers so I could learn from someone who held the bar higher than most dared to go. This is why I try to set the bar far enough away as to make it challenging enough so they feel a great deal of pride when they finally reach it.
