Ms. Michelle Uribe
My patron saint of education is Paulo Freire. My super power is a warm smile. My PowerPuff Girl is Bubbles. If you invite me to your home, I will bring something yummy. And to paraphrase Frederick Douglass, I believe it is much easier to build resilient children than to repair broken adults.
My name is Michelle Uribe. In 2011 I obtained a Masters in Counseling from California State University East Bay. I am also a licensed marriage and family therapist. This is my sixth year at Crockett Elementary School. Before my time at Crockett ES I was a counselor/behavioral health specialist at a small elementary school in Concord, CA. In a previous life I was a middle school teacher for 6 years in the Oakland Unified School District. I think it goes without saying children challenge us to be the best versions of ourselves. I believe this is what attracts me to education, the desire to better our community through modeling, recognizing individual strengths and empowering young people to be independent thinkers, doers and problem solvers.
My counseling program at Crockett ES offers an array of services and resources.
