The Rattler Marching Band
This is the varsity outdoor performing instrumental ensemble made up of all wind, percussion and color guard members that have their season during the end of summer and fall semester of the school year. The award-winning Rattler Marching Band performs at all varsity football games, pep rallies, parades, special events, and marching contests.
The Rattler Marching Band is one of, if not the most awarded group of the entire program. This past season was particularly successful. The Rattler Marching Band placed 3rd overall at the Cap City Marching Contest, 3rd overall at the Seguin Marching Festival, earned a "Sweepstakes" superior rating at the Region 12 Marching Contest, and finished the season placing 15th overall out of all 6A schools that participated in the Area D Marching Contest.

The Rattler Guard
The Color Guard is a performing group that incorporates dance with equipment including flags, rifles, sabers and more in an interpretive musical setting. This group performs alongside the Rattler Marching Band during the end of summer and fall semester, as well as an independent competitive indoor season during the spring semester.
This course is open to ALL GRADE LEVELS and requires NO EXPERIENCE to join!
Another awesome accommodation to this course is that it allows students to earn their Fine Arts credit and their P.E. Credit simultaneously!

This is the varsity instrumental music performing ensemble, made up of the most elite wind and percussion students at San Marcos High School. This ensemble prepares and performs professional level music.Symphonic Band
This band is the non-varsity instrumental music performing ensemble, made up of advanced wind and percussion students at San Marcos High School. This ensemble prepares and performs advanced level music.Concert Band
This band is the sub-non-varsity instrumental music performing ensemble, made up of on-level wind and percussion students at San Marcos High School. This ensemble prepares and performs on-level music.

Jazz Band
Jazz Ensemble
This group is an instrumental performing ensemble made up of winds, guitar, bass, drums and keyboard specializing in the various styles associated with Jazz music.Please Note: Jazz Band is considered a secondary ensemble. Students looking to participate in Jazz Band must also be in a concert ensemble such as Concert Band, Symphonic Band or Wind Symphony, so that they can continue to receive the foundational skills necessary for their primary instrument.
