I am so excited to be a part of the Mendez Elementary School family! I believe that having a creative outlet that gives students the space to explore their ideas is immensely essential to their growth. In a time when all of us are learning how to communicate, stay active, and grow as a community in a safe manner; art can be used as a tool to help us build and move forward as individuals and as a team. Art history can help students understand the hardships that others before them have had to overcome. This can inspire them to take the steps necessary to flourish in times of difficulty by staying true to themselves and caring for others.

I am hoping, along with my colleagues, to provide a safe way for our students to be creative and develop skills that will help them see how incredibly resourceful, innovative, and important they each are.

This is my 3rd year teaching with SMCISD and my 7th year as an early-childhood and elementary level educator. I love to garden, watercolor, and sew in my spare time. I have lived in San Marcos for a little over 10 years with my husband and I absolutely love this community! I hope to stay in open communication with our parents and colleagues so that we can work together to provide the best possible educational experience for our future leaders.
