Mitchell Oden was born in Lake Jackson, TX (same as Selena Quintanilla!) and graduated from Brazoswood High School in 2013. He then attended Brazosport College where he received his Associate of Arts in 2016. After that, Oden moved to San Marcos to attend Texas State University and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre with a concentration in Performance and Production as well as a minor in Computer Science. From here Mr. Oden traveled around Texas performing improv at various comic and anime conventions in the performance troupe, Bardic Insights. He also joined a Dinner Theatre improv group briefly before moving back to San Marcos where he resides now. While in San Marcos, he co-founded and currently serves as the Board President of the non-profit community theatre, Broke Thespian's Theatre Company.
Mitchell Oden served as the Fine Arts Assistant at A. J. Briesemeister Middle School in Seguin ISD for two years before achieving his Alternative Teaching Certification in 2022 from the Teacher Orientation and Preparation Program (TOPP). A State Board of Educator Certification approved alternative route to teacher certification coordinated by Education Service Center, Region 20. He completed his first year as a theatre director at Jim Barnes Middle School in Seguin ISD. He then accepted another position as the second theatre director at Canyon Middle School in Comal ISD. Mr. Oden is very excited to join the Rattler Family and the Miller Family to continue to bring the Miller Theatre department to new heights!
