As a musician, Corrine Bean (Teacher Bean), has been performing since she was five years old. Over the next
twenty-three years, Teacher Bean would tackle a variety of instruments from both the orchestra and band world.
This passion for learning and performing would naturally blend with Teacher Bean’s passion for movies, when she
would begin composing, conducting, and recording original works for independent films, many of which would
receive multiple awards at various film festivals.
Teacher Bean graduated from Oklahoma State University in 2016 with a Bachelor’s in Music Education and a minor
in American Sign Language. She studied with many renowned musicians and educators, including cello with Dr.
Meredith Blecha-Wells and composition with Dr. Igor Karača. Teacher Bean has gone on tour throughout the
Northeast with the OSU Orchestra, has composed original works for the college symphony, and has had the
opportunity to perform cello in several operas and musicals.
Prior to coming to SMCISD, Teacher Bean was an assistant orchestra director and low-strings consultant for two
different districts. Teacher Bean came to Miller MS this past year, and despite the difficulties with the pandemic, the
Miller MS orchestra went on to compete at UIL and received straight ones!
In her free time, Teacher Bean works in the independent film business, writing, composing, and recording/mixing
sound. Her love of theater keeps her busy writing independent plays, as well.
