About the Richard and Joann Robinett Scholarship

  • The William Hightower Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution is a fraternal hereditary organization dedicated to the preservation of America’s history, patriotism and statesmanship attained during the American Revolution. The issuing of an annual college scholarship to a patriotic, moral, academic, student leader is one means by which this organization fulfills its mission.

    The recipient will be a graduating senior of either gender matriculating from a fully accredited public senior high school from either Hays, Comal, or Guadalupe counties. Applicants must be certifiable citizens of one of the above mentioned counties, the state of Texas and the United States of American. It is optional, although preferable, that the applicant be a descendant of an American Revolutionary War Patriot.

    The applicant must have a grade point average 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale or its equivalent on a 3.0 scale. The applicant must have an ACT score above 27 or a SAT General Aptitude and Mathematics score above 1,200. The applicant must have a record of demonstrated leadership. This is best demonstrated by a record of holding leadership positions (offices) in academic, civic, social, charitable, service and religions groups. The applicant must have a demonstrated record of community service. And finally, the applicant must provide two (2) letters of reference from individuals, other than family, who have known the applicant for more than one year.

    Scholarship Amount: $1000
