San Marcos CISD is proud to announce various opportunities for our K-12 students to connect to college and career opportunties beyond high school. The Advanced Academics & College, Career and Military Readiness offers courses, programs, assessments, services and support as early as elementary years to instill an interest in our students for post-secondary readiness.

Opportunities to prepare our students for post-secondary begin on our SMCISD elementary campuses with Advancement Via Individual Determination, also known as the AVID program.
Elementary foundations, Dual Language Programs at various elementary campuses, Gifted and Talented services at all of the elementary campuses and Elementary Career Exploration through the AVID Program and SMCISD counseling department.

Beginning in Middle School, our students have opportunities to participate in Pre-Advanced Placement (Pre-AP) Courses, and explore in greater depth college and career opportunities through the AVID program and Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) and Texas State Educational Talent Search Program (TRIO) program.

In High School SMCISD Students have a wide range of opportunities to explore college and career opportunities through Advanced Academics (AP) courses, AVID, Career and Technology Education (CTE), Computer Science, World Languages (Languages other than English/LOTE), GEAR UP for current 9th and 10th graders, TRIO, Early College High School (ECHS), Credit by Exam, Academic Dual Credit (through Austin Community College/ACC) and, College and Career Center, Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (JROTC), Robotics, etc.
