Andrew Fernandez joined the SMCISD team in May of 2017 after spending three years working at Harlandale ISD where he served as the district’s Public Information Officer for two years and Publications Editor for one. During his time at Harlandale ISD, Fernandez served as the district spokesperson and implemented several new initiatives to highlight a variety of district programs. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Communications with a specialization in Journalism from Texas Lutheran University and his Masters' degree in Mass Communications from Stephen F. Austin University. 

Prior to his time at Harlandale ISD, Fernandez worked in administration for the City of Kirby and also spent three seasons working in the Basketball Communications Office for the San Antonio Spurs, including the 2014 Championship season.

Fernandez currently oversees the Communications Department and Technology Department in SMCISD while serving as a Cabinet member on the Superintendent's Cabinet.

Justice Vega joined the San Marcos CISD Communications Department full-time in January 2021 following her graduation from Texas State University where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Public Relations and Psychology and is actively pursuing her graduate degree. Before joining SMCISD, Justice was a Cast Member for the Walt Disney Company, served as an AVID Tutor at San Marcos High School, and worked as an intern for NBC News and the SMCISD Communications Department. 

In her current role, Justice oversees the weekly newsletter (Rattler Recap), serves as the SMCISD Webmaster by maintaining and managing websites and servers to meet user needs, and manages all district social media platforms and content creation for Pre-K-12. She is head of graphic design, serves as our videographer and producer for all campuses and departments, captures and promotes all district events, and assists in all district marketing efforts.
