Andrew Fernandez joined the SMCISD team in May of 2017 after spending three years working at Harlandale ISD where he served as the district’s Public Information Officer for two years and Publications Editor for one. During his time at Harlandale ISD, Fernandez served as the district spokesperson and implemented several new initiatives to highlight a variety of district programs. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Communications with a specialization in Journalism from Texas Lutheran University and his Masters' degree in Mass Communications from Stephen F. Austin University. 

Prior to his time at Harlandale ISD, Fernandez worked in administration for the City of Kirby and also spent three seasons working in the Basketball Communications Office for the San Antonio Spurs, including the 2014 Championship season.

Fernandez currently oversees the Communications Department and Technology Department in SMCISD while serving as a Cabinet member on the Superintendent's Cabinet.

Justice Unique Vega joined the San Marcos CISD Communications Department full-time in January 2021. She holds a Master’s Degree in Digital Media Innovation & Mass Communications from Texas State University and a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations and Psychology from the same institution.

Before joining SMCISD, Justice gained valuable experience as a Cast Member for the Walt Disney Company, an intern with NBC News, an AVID Tutor at San Marcos High School, and through her digital media work with Walsworth Publishing.

In her current role with SMCISD, Justice oversees the district’s weekly newsletter, Rattler Recap, manages all district social media platforms, and leads content creation for students in Pre-K through 12th grade. She also serves as the district Webmaster, maintaining and optimizing websites and servers to enhance user experience. Additionally, she is the head of graphic design, videographer, and producer for all campuses and departments. Justice plays a key role in capturing and promoting district events and contributes to all SMCISD marketing initiatives.

In addition to her work with the district, Justice serves as the Executive Director of the San Marcos Education Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting public education and Rattler success throughout San Marcos CISD.
