• Dear Miller Middle School Families and Community,

I am writing to inform you of an incident that occurred on campus today. Earlier today, a student reported to school staff that another student had brought what appeared to be a firearm to school. Staff immediately investigated the report and quickly determined that the item was not a real weapon but a fake firearm.

Our administrative team and School Resource Officer responded promptly, secured the item, and ensured that all students and staff remained safe throughout the process. We are grateful to the student who reported the concern, as speaking up allows us to address potential safety issues quickly and responsibly.

The student involved will be addressed according to our district’s student code of conduct. We take any situation involving items that resemble weapons very seriously, and we will continue to reinforce expectations with students regarding school safety.

I would also like to apologize for the delay in communicating this information to you. Our priority was to fully investigate the situation and ensure that the campus was safe but I own the fact that this message should have been sent sooner.

The safety of our students and staff remains our highest priority. We encourage all students to continue reporting anything that seems concerning to a trusted adult on campus.

Thank you for your continued support of Miller Middle School.

    Sincerely,

    Dr. Marlyn Young
    Principal
    Miller Middle School
