SMCISD is proud to partner with area Universities/Alternative Certification Programs to provide student teachers a place to learn and observe. All student teachers must be pre-approved prior to their first day on one of our campuses. Please see the information and instructions below.

• Complete the SMCISD online Volunteer Background Application for the semester requested.
  • Your student teacher coordinator/office will provide you with the background application information and LEE form you will need in order to be fingerprinted (you cannot begin your assignment until your fingerprinting has been completed – these appointments will be scheduled within the month preceding your assignment).
• Attend the Student Teacher Orientation
  • You will receive notification of the date, time, and location of the orientation from your student teacher coordinator (these are typically held the first week of the semester).
• Questions
  • Don't hesitate to get in touch with your student teacher coordinator with any questions regarding your student teaching assignment.
